Surfing to Subs

The first Sub Tropics opened its doors in Atlantic Beach, NC in 2005 by Charles Kemp.  A native of Morehead City and avid surfer, Charles had a vision to create a sub shop catering to the local surfers and beach community.

Since its inception, Sub Tropics has won numerous awards on the North Carolina coast and in 2023 has brought its award winning sandwiches to Johns Island.

In addition to classic subs and sandwiches, Sub Tropics also offers  signature subs and one of a kind Puka Hot Dogs and Cuban sandwiches Charles created after surfing trips in Hawaii and Costa Rica.

We also offer pizza, smoothies, and breakfast sandwiches.  Come join us and enjoy one of our delicious Super Subs, Wraps, Pizza, and Smoothies as well as our Speciality Sandwich selections.
